Welcome to  Fox Woods...   This lovely custom home is perched on a hill, in a private gated area that is well wooded, it overlooks a beautiful spring fed lake...The views are spectacular.  Deer, Wild Turkey and Fox are a few of the creatures we commonly cross paths with. There is always something to do. In summer kayaking, paddle boat cruising, fishing and hiking & biking are right outside the door.

In the winter it is cozy and warm, there is nothing better than a fire in the natural wood burning fireplace looking out the window at the perfect snow enjoying family and friends and a warm toddy!

Fox Woods is located in the heart of the snow belt, in the 2008/09 season we ended up with 252 inches of snow. Skiers LOVE the area. Even with winter blowing on the other side of the window you will fall in love with this place and hate to leave.

One of our guests described it as "idyllic"...and we can't seem to find a better word.

 Green Lake is lovely whether you are looking at the trees reflecting on its glassy surface or frozen in the winter, it is breathtaking at all times.

It was the main reason we chose this spot.

Fox Woods is located on the northwest side of the state about 30 min NE of Traverse City. It is an area Patrick and I fell in love with. We decided that this is where we want to retire to...so we took the leap and built our 'dream home'. We enjoy sharing it with family and friends and those who have the same appreciation for Northwest Michigan and the surroundings. While the home itself is in a private area...it is only minutes away from the town of  Alden and Bellaire, top ranked Golf and Five Star Restaurants are a 10 minute scenic ride away...and no more than 30 minutes from Traverse City, Elk Rapids, Gaylord...or Petosky to name a few of the scenic towns you can visit.

The total living space is just over 3500 square feet. There are 3 wood burning fireplaces, one in the great room, one in the walkout (unfinished at this time) and one outdoors, under the deck.

Fox Woods is a perfect spot for a couple or couples with or without families to enjoy the outdoors together  The adults enjoy the serenity and if you are bringing children, the kids love the fishing, paddleboat, kayaking, being outside enjoying s'mores around the fire pit, frog hunting and if they are observant, eagle watching...In a SAFE community. If the weather is uncooperative the home has Dish Network, is minutes away from the Bellaire Movie Theater or you can run into town and rent some DVD's from the Movie Gallery. 

 If your definition of uncooperative is significant snow accumulation you are in luck, Fox Woods is located in the snow belt of Michigan and gets lake effect snow nearly every day ...and when its system snow...it really snows, we are minutes away from one of Michigan's finest Ski runs for downhill or walk out the door for cross country skiing or snowshoeing.

You can enjoy 'big water' while you are on vacation at Fox Woods, should you desire to do so, there are plenty of spots where you can drop in your boat or jet ski's.  DNR access sites abound. DNR ACCESS SITES

If the hustle and bustle of town is not for you and what you seek is serenity...total peace and relaxation, this is your spot.

We visit often and spend time on Green Lake as well as the other beautiful lakes in the area. In fact, we keep our Zodiac close at hand for exploring the region. In the many years we have been in this area, we have not run out of new places to explore. There are plenty of activities to enjoy all year round from fishing, boating, color tours, winery tours, gambling to a variety of winter sports, including snowshoeing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling which as of this writing...is just around the corner...

However you spend your time here. You will fall in love with Michigan and Fox Woods.

More About Green Lake. The gorgeous color of the water is beyond the word 'green'. During certain periods in the summer, it can also be described as a "Caribbean blue". The 44 acre spring fed lake is located at the base of the hill the home sits on...this lake has challenging Bass and Pan Fish. You can literally sit on the dock for hours, catching Blue Gill and Bass, the kids (big and small) will have a ball. It is a quiet lake, designated as hand carry craft only and it enjoys NO WAKE status by the DNR. That means, no gas motors are allowed, only electric motors. Its beauty is unspoiled and it will remain so. What you see now, is how it will always appear, we and the other residents and property owners take great pride in its crystal clear water and naturally pristine shorelines. We ask that you respect the lake, the property and our neighbors should you spend time at our home.

If you own Jet Skis, or a boat on a trailer, there are numerous large lakes within 15-30 minutes to launch your craft and explore.

We encourage that you visit Torch Lake, Clam Lake, Lake Bellaire, Intermediate Lake, Grand Traverse Bay, Petoskey and the East Jordan River Valley, all which offer beautiful clear water and the 'excitement' of larger lakes. The Grass River area is gorgeous and connects Bellaire Lake to the Clam Lake to Torch Lake...in fact, all lakes lead to the Grand Traverse Bay, this area is well known as the "Chain of Lakes"
